950 platinum is a durable brilliant white metal that is 95% pure platinum. Platinum is so durable because instead of wearing away on to the things that it contacts, it displaces over itself to a much great extent than gold. Platinum is also great for people with sensitivities to white golds. Over time platinum will develop a subtle "patina", which is generally considered desirable and a key feature of platinum...it ages gracefully. Of course you can always have the original finish renewed at a jewelers every so often.
